Richard D Murphy

Rick was born on June 7, 1949, in Canton, OH, the son of Richard P. and Martha Jean (Myers) Murphy. He married Sara Jane Dehner on July 28, 1973 at St. Mary’s Church in Lincoln.

He graduated from Edgewood High School in Orlando, FL, after which he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He then worked for Crawford, Murphy, and Tilly Engineering for 37 years until his retirement. Rick was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church where he and his wife sang in the choir. He enjoyed playing golf but above all else he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, David Murphy.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sara; children, Sandra “Katie” Williams of Peoria, Shaun Murphy of Springfield, and Timothy Murphy of Madison, WI; grandchildren, Jennifer Dynis, J.J., Kylee, and Jaden Williams, and Ashlynn and Lillian Murphy; sisters, LuAnne (William) Preston and Susan (Rob) Hill both of Orlando, FL.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield, IL 62702 with The Very Rev. Daniel Bergbower, V.F., celebrant. A private burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lincoln.
