She was born August 13, 1919 in Thawville, IL, the daughter of Edward and Ocie (Ehresman) Bork. She married Jay King in Piper City, IL, June 20, 1948 and he preceded her in death January 31, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and four brothers.
Pearl was a longtime, very active member of Laurel United Methodist Church. She volunteered at the Dana Thomas House and Kumler United Methodist Food Pantry. She was an expert Bridge player, an avid everyday walker and a diehard Cubs fan. Early in her life, she would travel with friends to the Palmer House in Chicago, where they would dance to the sounds of the Big Bands. She loved her family and found great joy in their activities and hearing of their endeavors.
She is survived by her son, Rick (wife Rita) King, her daughter, Pam (husband Ted) LeBlang of Springfield, her grandchildren: Danielle (husband Terry Flynn) LeBlang of San Diego, CA, Yale LeBlang of Chicago, and Justin (wife Kelsey) King of Springfield, her great grandchildren: Easton and Everly Flynn and Ocie King, and her brother Edwin Bork and sister Eloise Milstead, both of Bloomington, IL. There are several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are in the care of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL, where the family will greet family and friends Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 9:30 am until the time of her funeral service there at 10:30 am. Chaplain Jeff Harter will officiate. Burial will be private in Camp Butler National Cemetery. CDC guidelines will be followed, allowing limited capacity of attendance, social distancing, and face mask requirements.
