Oliver Ollie V. Sexton

Ollie was a life time coal miner first working for Hanna Coal then North American Coal Company in the Ohio Valley before moving to Illinois in 1982 to work for Turris Coal Company where he retired in 2003.

Ollie was a devoted father of two, Heather Sexton (Davin Jutila) and Holly Sexton (Josh Kinney). During their daughters school years you could find Ollie with his wife Sandy, who preceded him in death in 1996, in the stands or sidelines cheering on their daughters at all their numerous Riverton sporting events.

In Ollie’s retirement, he and his significant other Teresa McHenry enjoyed trips to the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers to eat catfish and to watch bald eagles fish, lazy afternoon trips to Arthur to enjoy the Amish lifestyle, bluegrass festivals and tractor shows. Ollie also spent many months traveling with his two daughters to multiple National Parks and eating at as many Diners, Drive-ins and Dives as they could get too.

Oliver is survived by his three brothers, Elmer, Ernie and Delbert Sexton and two sisters, Virginia Bateman and Emma Lee Sexton. He was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Ashworth, brother David Malcolm Sexton and parents, Mamie and Voscoe Sexton.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home where a memorial gathering will be on Sunday June 5th from 1:00 pm til 2:00 pm with words of remembrance beginning at 2 pm. Cremation rites will be accorded by Bisch Crematory.

The family requests no flowers, rather memorials be made in his memory to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
