Nancy Lee Smith

Nancy Lee Smith. 84, of Kansas City, formerly of Springfield, passed away on March 4, 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on June 16, 1939 in Aurora, IL. To Roy Craigmile and Ardella (Serby) Craigmile. Nancy married Gary Smith in Waterman, IL on May 20, 1961.

Mrs Smith is survived by two daughters: Kathi (John) Russell of Austin, TX. and Julie Brown of Rochester, IL. Two sons: Doug (Jamie) Smith of Springfield, IL and Steve (Candy) Smith of Platte City, MO. many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and two sisters Betty Olson and Ruth Aagesen both of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Smith, and her parents, Roy and Ardella Craigmile.

Nancy worked doing what she loved. Her first love was everything Hallmark and was the manager of the Hallmark store in Mattoon, IL before moving to Riverton, IL. In Riverton, she managed a medical practice for the best boss and friend she could have wished for in Dr Beth Bergman. Nancy was a devoted mother and the love of Gary’s life. They enjoyed finding restaurants to frequent and watching University of Illinois basketball and football. Nancy found joy in shopping for exquisite clothes and making her home presentable for all, and it was always the picture of perfect.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday April 5, 2024 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, 5063 Camp Butler Road, Springfield, Illinois.
