Nancy Jo Phillips

Nancy Jo Phillips, 76, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday October 16, 2022 at Mill Creek Alzheimer’s Care Center. She was born on March 8, 1946 in Kankakee, Illinois to Lester Heyerman and Doris Reid. Nancy married Steven R. Phillips in 1974 and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2011.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by one daughter Chrissy (Joshua) Stuenkel of Springfield, three grandchildren: Jordan, Caden and Casey Stuenkel, one sister Betty (John) Balk and one brother Tom (Connie) Heyerman. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Nancy graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1967 and she spent her entire forty seven year career in Springfield Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department. She enjoyed planting flowers, with frequent visits to the Applebarn, annual vacations to Treasure Island, FL., and being around her grandsons who knew her as Nanny.

A funeral service officiated by Rev. James Stuenkel will be held at 12:30pm on Friday October 28, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2750 East Sangamon Ave, with burial to follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 11:00am until the time of service at church on Friday.
