Nancy Lee (Workman) Fuchs, 84, of Springfield, died at 11:00pm, Thursday, April 11, 2024 at her residence. She was born on October 9, 1939 at home (Melody Meadows Farm, just south of Curran, IL) to Howard G. and Edna (Renetzky) Workman. She married Charles R. (Bob) Fuchs, and he preceded her in death November 2020. She had 5 siblings, Jean (deceased), Beverly (deceased), Ron, Carol and Kim.
Survivors include four children: Tony (Mary) Fuchs of Wheatridge, CO; Colleen (Dave) Walker of Loami, IL; Kathy (Michael) Coady of Taylorville, IL; and Karen (John) Anderson of Kenosha, WI. She is also survived by 8 grandsons and 4 granddaughters: Breanna Coe, Jacqueline Ledferd, Jonathan Walker, Stephanie King, Michael Walker, Donald Rector III, Sarah DeNorthwood, John Conway, Daniel Conway, Alex Fox, Brian Conway, and Nicholas Fox. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nancy worked for Memorial Hospital in the bakery for many years. After retiring from Memorial Hospital, she delivered newspapers for the State Journal-Register for nearly 20 years.
She was a life-long devout Christian and for several years head of the Illinois State Capitol building prayer group. Most of her life, she was a resident of Sangamon County, Illinois. Nancy was a country girl at heart who loved living on the farm within 2 miles of where her ancestors stopped their covered wagon and settled in the early 1800s.
Nancy was an avid Abraham Lincoln buff and collector. She loved attending all of the Springfield Lincoln festivals and events each year.
Funeral Service: 11:00am, Wednesday, April 17, Chatham Christian Church, 9897 S. Main St., Chatham, IL. Burial will follow at Chatham Cemetery on west Walnut Street.
