Millard Glenn “Mac” McDaniel, 93, of Springfield, passed away on September 26, 2019. He was born on March 25, 1926 in Rinard, Illinois to Rollie and Jessie Nichols McDaniel. Mac married Patricia Eckart on April 30, 1962 in Flora, Illinois and she survives.
In addition to his spouse Pat, Mr. McDaniel is also survived by his sons, Randall McDaniel, Webster, Texas, and Millard Glenn (Janet) McDaniel, Jr., Evansville, Indiana, daughter, Beth Kesselring (Kevin), Pleasant Plains, Illinois and granddaughter, Baylee Kesselring, Pleasant Plains, Illinois. Mac is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth McDaniel.
Mac proudly served his country as a U.S. Army World War II veteran from 1944 until 1946 during the Pacific Theater of Operations. Mac and Pat lived in Flora, Illinois until he was transferred with his work with Halliburton Oil Services to Albion, Michigan in 1967. Together, they moved to Springfield, Illinois in July of 2002. Mac enjoyed woodworking, crossword puzzles, and spending time with his family. Over the years Mac worked as a stocker at the Kroger store in Flora, for Coca-Cola in Olney, B&O Railroad, Pennsylvania Railroad, as a Lineman in Texas, Electrician in Flora, as an Independent Oil Contractor in West Texas, for Halliburton Oil Service in Illinois and Michigan, and building and maintenance for Munger Place in Albion, Michigan.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 South Koke Mill Road, with burial to follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10 am until the time of service Wednesday at Bisch West.
