Michael S. “Mike” Rhodes, 60, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born in Springfield, July 30, 1953 the son of Patrick and Margaret Storms Rhodes. He married Mary Jane Lyons in Springfield, June 21, 1982 and she survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Madelyn McPeak of Middletown, IL, his granddaughter, Rachel McPeak, a brother, Kenneth Rhodes of Springfield, 2 sisters; Suzann Rhodes of Springfield, and Cammy (husband David) Moore of McDaniels, KY. There are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His parents and a step-son, John Michael Brackett preceded him in death.
Mike worked for the City of Springfield, namely, Oak Ridge Cemetery. He was a member of the 114th Civil War re-inactment regiment and AFSCME. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing pool and loved sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen where a prayer service will be held at 5 pm Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014. A memorial gathering will follow until 7 pm.
Cremation Rites will be accorded by the Bisch Crematory.
Inurnment will be at a later date.
