Mary “Peg” McCloughan, 68, of Springfield, died at 6:06 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at her residence. She was born on October 23, 1938 in Springfield, the daughter of Sam and Frances P. Menendez LaFura. She married Langham “Mac” McCloughan on August 28, 1959 in Springfield. A lifelong resident of the Springfield community, she is of Catholic faith and graduated from Lanphier High School. She also graduated from Brown’s Business College from their Secretarial Program. She has worked in the accounting department for the past thirty-five years for the State Journal Register. Peg enjoyed flower gardening and collecting angels and her favorite holiday of Christmas. She liked to bake and cook and was most known for her great potato salad. Peg was a great caregiver and her friends and family considered her their “Mother Hen”. She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Mac McCloughan of Springfield; four sons: Curt (wife, Melody) McCloughan of Spaulding, Mike (wife, Maria) McCloughan of Riverton, Kevin (wife, Johnna) McCloughan of Springfield and Craig McCloughan also of Springfield; two daughters: Lana (husband, Paul) McCloughan-Herrera of Springfield and Kim (husband, Greg) Stephens of Dawson; nineteen grandchildren: Tara White, Deven and Andrew McCloughan; Jessica, Stephanie and Christopher McCloughan; Brittany, Lindsay, Kayla and Zach McCloughan; Nicholas, Amy and Matthew Hagen; Joseph McCloughan and Alicia Bullock, Trisha Harris, Trevor Westerman, Celeste and Desirae Hughes; six great-grandchildren: Baylie Richardson, Ashton and Addison White, Elizabeth Frances McCloughan and Brandon and Damion Hughes; one sister: Tina (husband, Albert) Flagg of Springfield; several aunts, one uncle, two nieces, three great-nephews and several cousins. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Haag officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
