Mary Alice List

She was born in Springfield, June 10, 1933 the daughter of David L. and Gladys B. (Sturdy) Beeler. She married Robert "Bob" List in Indiana, in 1956 and he preceded her in death in 1978. Her parents also preceded her in death.

Mary Alice worked for many years at Illinois Bell Telephone as a Directory Assistance Operator. She was a faithful member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church LCMS where she was active with the Seekers Bible Study Group. Her family was of the most importance to her. She loved spending time with them and especially her grandchildren, supporting them in all their endeavors. She was an accomplished seamstress, as well enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She loved to read and travel. Her most memorable trips were to Dauphin Island, Alabama, Phoenix, Arizona, Ireland and Mexico. Her family and friends looked forward to her home cooked meals. Her specialties were homemade bread, chocolate chip cookies and the best fried chicken ever. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are her children: Cindy (Jerry) Naughton of Springfield, Greg (Pam) List of Tarpin Springs FL, Kenny (Susan) List and Becky (Andy) Heppe both of Springfield. She has 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 brothers; David (Joyce) Beeler Jr., of Springfield, and Richard (Jeanette) Beeler of New Berlin, IL, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, especially Suzy Mielkaitis who was also her best friend.

Visitation and Service: A visitation will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church 2645 Old Jacksonville Rd., Springfield, IL from 9:00 am Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 until time of her funeral service there at the church at 10:30 am Saturday. Rev. Joshua T. Traxel will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery near Riverton.
