Mary A. James. 89, a resident of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Mary was born on July 15, 1924, the daughter of John R. and Mary E. (Kincaid) McClintock. Mary and Arthur B. James were married in Springfield in 1943. They celebrated 51 years of marriage together until he preceded her in death in 1994. Mary was an active volunteer with many organizations. She was a member of AARP Chapter 195, Y-Not Red Hat Society, United Methodist Women, and East Side Seniors, and worked for over 25 years with Contact Ministries. She was a member of Northside United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mary are her 2 sons: Jeffrey (Lisa) James of Farmingdale, NY, and Rick James of Springfield, her sister Ruth Long of Springfield, and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, 2 brothers, Robert and John McClintock, and her sister, Emma Warren.
According to Mary's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E Allen St. Springfield, IL, 62703. The family will receive friends from 9 am until the time of service at 11 am. Following the services Mary will be laid to rest with her husband at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
