Mary H. Grant, 90, of Springfield, was born into eternal life on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Regency Nursing Care, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on April 16, 1918 in Niantic, the daughter of John and Maryann Creamer Ervin. She married Malcolm B. Grant on April 18, 1953 at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Mary was a member of St. Joseph's Church, serving as a member of the Ladies Guild and a Eucharistic minister. She retired from IL Bell after 35 years of service as a Training Division Supervisor. Mary was an active member of St. Louise de Marillac and the Telephone Pioneers, serving as a past president. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, and baking her specialty, coffee cakes. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. Preceding Mary in death are her parents; sisters, Margaret Eck and Eleanor Sommer; her brothers, Hugh Ervin and John C. Ervin; and her great grandson, Jacob Grant Schloemann. She is survived by her children, Marilyn (husband, John) Cimarossa of Sugar Hill, GA and Rhonda (husband, Terry R.) Brown of Athens; her grandchildren, Carolyn (husband, Chad) Schloemann, Darren (wife, Emily) Cimarossa, Jaclyn Cimarossa, Justin and Jared Brown; her great grandchildren, Adam Schloemann, Mackenzie Cimarossa, Mary Kate and Maddie Cimarossa; her sister, Dorothy Tobin of Springfield; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield. Burial will follow at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
