Mary Ellen Daniels

Mary was born on November 14, 1946, in Springfield, the daughter of Charles Owen and Alice Creviston Dodge. She married David Eugene Daniels on April 8, 1967. They shared 56 wonderful years together.

Mary was a graduate of Feitshans High School. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who loved gathering with her family and taking family vacations. She learned to play golf with her husband, David, and they loved traveling and playing golf together. She played in the Women's League at Bunn, the City Tournament, and volunteered at the LPGA. Although she had many talents like cooking, baking, and gardening, she will be most fondly remembered for being the rock of her family, being there for everyone, and always bringing her family together.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Dodge.

She is survived by her husband, David Daniels of Springfield; two sons, David Eugene (wife, Michelle) Daniels II of Springfield and Tony Daniels of Springfield; one daughter, Angela (husband, Jeffrey) Burt of Springfield; four grandchildren, Alexandra Smith, and Amanda, Sara, and Geno Daniels; seven siblings, Charles “Bud” (wife, Donna) Dodge, Edward (wife, Peggy) Dodge, Margaret Giddings-Blakley, Michael Dodge, David Dodge, Nancy (husband, Tom) Crouch, and Patricia (husband, Jay) Dodd; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2000 East Sangamon Avenue, Springfield. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Sajimon Aarakkattu Kuriakose, celebrant. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
