Springfield, IL-Marvin D. Brown, 72, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 at 10:15 pm at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born in Des Moines, IA, Nov. 7, 1944 the son of Mitchell and Esther (Leiserwitz) Brown. He married Mary J. Robinson, March 14, 1969 in Des Moines, IA and she survives.
Also surviving are his two daughters; Andrea (husband Matt) Ostermeier of Glenarm, IL and Lauren Tomko of Springfield. He has four grandchildren; Taryn and Cammy Ostermeier, and Lizzie and Tripp Tomko. He is also survived by his brother, Alan L. (wife Annabel) Brown and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents.
Marvin was a realtor and business man. He enjoyed entertainment of many venues and especially enjoyed traveling to Branson MO, and Las Vegas. His biggest joy came from the time spent with family, friends and especially his grandchildren. An avid sports fan, he cheered for the Chicago Cubs, and the Fighting Illini. He had a passion for playing tennis.
He was everyone's friend. He was nice to everybody, loved to talk with people and never knew a stranger. He was interested in learning about the people he met. Marvin was always happy, liked to have fun, and wanted everyone around him to have fun too.
A graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery, at 10:30 am Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 with Pastor Jeff Nelsen officiating. Family and Friends may gather at the Monument St. gate at 10:15 am and follow the procession to the graveside. A time of fellowship and sharing of memories and stories with lunch will follow at 11:30 am at the Fairview Restaurant 2141 N. 16th St. Springfield, IL.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may direct memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the Animal Protective League.
