Mark Stephen Lewis

Mark Stephen Lewis, 33, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 in Carmel, Indiana. He was born on April 26, 1984, the son of Larry and Betsy Lewis, formerly of Springfield. Mark graduated from Springfield High School in 2002 where he was involved in numerous activities and sports, especially the wrestling and baseball programs. He graduated from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana in 2006 with a double major in International Business and Spanish. After graduation, Mark returned to Springfield and was employed by Prudential Insurance. In 2008, he enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard where he served as a Signal Corps officer. He graduated from Officer Candidate School in 2010 and completed advanced training at Fort Gordon, GA. In 2011, he moved to Indianapolis, where he initially worked for eProtex, then later at Developer Town and Liberty Mutual Insurance. Mark was married to Lacy Sposato from March 24, 2012 until the spring of 2016. He is survived by his parents of Indianapolis; his older brother, Craig Lewis, his wife Shannon, and their children, Gavin and Adalyn of Carmel, IN; his maternal grandmother, Helen Menke of Indianapolis; his paternal grandfather, Carl Lewis of Sparta, IL; his uncle and aunt, Jim and Bonnie Lewis of Herrin, IL; his uncle, David Lewis of Sparta; and two cousins, Susan Lewis Friedman of Wilmette, IL and J. T. Lewis of Herrin, IL. Mark was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Burdell Menke; and his paternal grandmother, Betty Lewis, both of Sparta. Mark was a Christ-follower and was a member of College Park Church in Indianapolis. A Celebration of Life will be held at West Side Christian Church on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 with Eddie Lowen officiating. A memorial gathering will take place from 11:00 a.m. - 12:45 p.m., followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
