She was born Aug. 30, 1925 in Kent, OH. The daughter of William J. and Verna Chape Ingham. She married Wolcott N. Lyon, Jr. March 6, 1948 in Kent, OH, and he preceded her in death Oct. 28, 2003.
Marjorie was a 1943 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School, Kent, OH. and a 1946 graduate of Kent State University where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She had been employed by Bishop United Methodist Church and Charles C. Thomas Publishers.
She was a member of the Margaret Garfield Circle of King’s Daughters where she served as President from 1959 to 1960 and was King’s Daughters Corporation President from 1976 to 1978. She had been a member of Springfield Panhellenic since 1949, a member of Caleb Hopkins Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution serving as Regent from 1983 to 1985, Sangamon River Chapter U.S. Daughters of 1812 serving as President from 1976 to 1979 and Chapter FU of P.E.O. serving as President from 1986 to 1988 and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Kent, OH since 1943.
She is survived by her daughter, Meredith Lyon Keating of Springfield; sons, Keith G. (Victoria) Lyon of Haymarket, VA, and Kent C. Lyon (companion, Beverly Dunnington) of Dayton, OH; granddaughter, Sara Keating of Springfield and brother, William V. (Nita) Ingham of Bradenton, FL.
Graveside services will be held Saturday Jan. 8, 2011 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements (www.boardman-smith.net)
