

Marjorie Koch, 100, of Springfield, died Friday, April 23, 2010 at her home among her family. She was born May 30, 1909 in Mt. Sterling, the daughter of Samuel and Katherine O'Connor Drew. She married Bernard E. Koch on August 2, 1932 in Mt. Sterling. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2000. She also was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, four brothers and two sisters. Marjorie graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1926 and St. John's School of Nursing in 1930. She was a member of Saint Agnes Parish and Altar Society and served as an extra ordinary minister for many years. Marjorie also was a longtime member of St. John's Nurses Alumni, Legion of Mary and St. Joseph's Home Coterie. She is survived by her one son, Bernie (wife, Linda) Koch of Springfield; four daughters, Margaret Mary (husband, Charles) Bordenkircher of Palatine, Jeanne (husband, Lawrence) Franz of Palatine, Carole (husband, James) Walker of Buffalo Grove and Bette (husband, Mike) Atteberry of Athens; one sister, Betty Jean (husband, Richard) Kunzweiler of Palatine; twenty-five grandchildren, sixty-two great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 26, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, with a prayer service to start at 5:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield, with Rev. Robert J. Jallas, celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes Church, 245 N.
