She was born in Urbana on November 30, 1951, the daughter of Richard and Mary Gordon Babb. She married James A. Killion on April 16, 1982.
Marilyn attended Sacred Heart Academy and St. John’s Nursing School. She was a registered nurse with St. John’s Hospital for nearly 50 years. Marilyn will be remembered for her quirky sense of humor, generosity, and kindness. She loved to bake, attend trivia nights, watch Jeopardy, and host afternoon “Wine Time” with friends and family. Marilyn also volunteered for the Daily Bread Program at Senior Services, delivering food to seniors. She was a member of the Church of the Little Flower.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; and her beloved dog, Betty.
Marilyn is survived by her son, Matthew (Cassie Vorachek) Killion; daughter, Kathleen (Chris Mueller) Killion; stepdaughters, Lori (Harland) Killion-Lash and Martha (Josh Mullikin) Killion; grandchildren, Kelsey Killion, Jed Mullikin, Kale Lash, and Stella Mullikin; siblings, Julianne Hedrick and Michael (Michele) Babb; great-grandchild, Odelia Tsakanikas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, with Father Al Kemme officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Family and friends invite all who knew and loved Marilyn to join us in celebrating her remarkable life with food and drinks at the Lake Press Club following the burial from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m.
