She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, “Bob”; parents; and a brother.
Peg is survived by her daughter, Stacey Lynn (Izzet “Ike”) VanderHeiden Güney, PhD, of Luxembourg and Colorado; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Zachary, Benjamin, and Rachel Güney; great-grandson, Hudson; sister, Linda (John Kauffman) Mack of Ave Maria, FL; and several nephews and cousins.
Peg retired in 1998 after a lengthy career with both Franklin Life Insurance and the State of Illinois. She loved her home in Chatham for the almost 50 years that she lived there, particularly looking after her garden, roses, and feeding the birds. She enjoyed going out to lunch almost every day, with both old friends and making new ones. In recent years, she was a vibrant member of the community at Hickory Glen and Concordia Village where she enjoyed playing bingo and cards.
Visitation: 12PM, Friday, January 5, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Funeral service follows at 1PM with Pastor Gary Gilley, Southern View Chapel, officiating. Burial will be at Chatham Memorial Cemetery. Reception 4PM at Mariah Steakhouse, 3317 Robbins Road, Springfield.
