

Margaret “Sue” Squire, 86, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday June 27, 2013 at Heritage Health Care Center in Springfield. She was born on August 24, 1926 in San Jose, IL., the daughter of Harry and Flossie Beekman Parsons. She married John R. Squire in San Jose, IL., in 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1994.
She is survived by her daughter Judy (Daniel) Hayes of Jacksonville, two grandchildren: Mari (Wayne) Brown of Springfield, and Mike (Audra) Chestnut of Sherman, four great-grandchildren: Morgan Brown of Cleveland, OH., Kendyl Brown of Springfield, and Kyle and Brook Chestnut of Sherman, her sister Jean (Jim) O’Brien of Peoria and one sister-in-law Louise Young of Pensacola, Florida.
Sue began her professional career in Mason City, IL., working for the Mason City Telephone Company as an operator, and then for Dr. Jack Means. She then worked for the Springfield Clinic. Sue retired from the Illinois Department of Revenue in 1987 and moved to Florida with her husband John where she worked for Thompson Jewelers in Kissimmee. Mrs. Squire moved back to Illinois in February of 2004.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Monday July 8, 2013 at Mason City Cemetery in Mason City, IL.
