Margaret I. Little, 96, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday July 16, 2013 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born on April 24, 1917 in Jacksonville, IL., the daughter of Clarence Edwin and Lela Blackford Newby. She married Joe H. Little in Springfield on November 24, 1935 and he preceded her in death on September 24, 1998.
Mrs. Little is survived by her two children: Sandie (Michael) Whalen of Springfield, and Thomas E. (Kay) Little of Columbia, South Carolina, four grandchildren: Tod E. Little, Timothy M. Whalen, Wendy J. Wise and Suzanne K. Kell, four great-granddaughters, and three great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Helen Patterson and Thelma Stokes, and one grandson Jon Little.
Margaret worked at Montgomery Ward in Springfield and Decatur and then she ran a gift shop in her husband’s paint store after the family moved to Clinton, Iowa. She was a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of South Side Christian Church, and she enjoyed entertaining family at holidays and special events.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday July 19, 2013 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen St., with Pastor John Miller officiating and a private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will meet friends from 10:00am until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
