
Margaret A. (Walsh) Dickerson, 92, of Springfield, died at 5:41 p.m., on Thursday, July 8, 2010. Margaret was born April 16, 1918 in Springfield, the daughter of William and Helen O’Brien Walsh. She married Robert “Bob” Dickerson on November 29, 1941 in Springfield. He preceded her in death in 2000. Margaret worked for over 30 years at Sangamo Electric Co. as an inspector and also worked for Franny’s for many years. She loved to play the lottery and was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan and a staunch Republican. Margaret is the last in the line of full blooded Irish. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Jane Walsh (and her infant twin) and nine brothers, John and his twin Huey, William, James, Teddy, Michael, Jerome “Whimpy”, Robert, and Franny Walsh; and a nephew, Ron Walsh. She is survived by several nieces including Mary E. (George) Lane of Springfield; several nephews, Jack Walsh and Jim Sullivan of Springfield, Ed Walsh of Manteno and Norman Walsh of California; great-nephews including, Jeff Lane; and a great great-nephew, Brandon Lane. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Msgr. Thomas Holinga, V.F., celebrant Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
