Marcia E. Kimsey Beck

Marcia Elberta Kimsey Beck, 99, of Springfield, left this world peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father at 5:45 pm, on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Lewis Memorial Christian Home. Marcia was born October 17, 1919, in Pueblo, Colorado, the daughter of Marshall S. and Effie P. Wiant. She married Harley E. Kimsey in Elizabethtown, IL. He preceded her in death on January 14, 1972. Marcia married Bernard Beck in Springfield. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1994. Marcia was a member of the Clearlake Church of Christ. She worked at Pillsbury Mills and taught cosmetology at the Springfield School of Beauty Culture before opening Marcia's Beauty Shop on Keys Ave in 1964. After the death of her husband, Harley, she married Bernard Beck and moved to Park Forest, IL. Marcia was a receptionist at CNA Insurance Headquarters in Chicago. Upon relocating to Bourbonnais, IL, Marcia returned to teaching cosmetology at the Broadway Beauty School. She returned to Springfield in September 2006 and has been a resident of Seasons at Pine Creek for the past 12 years. Marcia enjoyed being with people and was often seen drinking coffee and sharing stories with her many friends at Seasons. Her favorite activities included Bingo, Bunco, Yahtzee, and Donut Wednesday. Chocolate Long Johns were her favorite. She enjoyed crocheting, listening to books on tape, and visiting with her neighbors. Marcia loved her family and was always excited when they brought grandchildren to visit. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dora Jane Buchanan and Margaret Ellen Schwehr; and brothers, Thomas S. Wiant and Henry S. Wiant. She is survived by her sister, Shirley R. Devore of Springfield; son, William E. (Donna) Kimsey of Springfield; daughters, Sarah E. Kimsey Voiles of Pasadena, TX, and Gloria J. (Bruce) Pfaff of Naperville, IL; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. The family will host a memorial gathering from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Seasons of Pine Creek, 3201 Conifer Drive, Springfield.
