Marcella Ruth McCafferty, 78, of Chatham, passed away on March 24, 2018 at Heritage Hospice. She was born on October 31, 1939 in Decatur to Michael and Pearl Mayle Durbin. Marcella married Kenneth McCafferty on May 25, 1968 in Springfield and he preceded her in death on January 19, 2003.
Mrs. McCafferty is survived by two children: Rhonda McCafferty and Kenny (companion Tabatha Bumgarner) McCafferty Jr., both of Chatham, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one brother David Durbin and one sister Debra Laursen. She was preceded in death by one grandson Kennon McCafferty.
Marcella retired from St. John’s Hospital Support Services Division. She was an avid bowler and competed in several tournaments. She played BINGO at Caritas Hall and enjoyed camping in New Douglas, Illinois.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday March 29, 2018 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road, with burial to follow at Chatham Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 10:00am until the time of service Thursday at Bisch West.
