He was born in Springfield on May 13, 1960, the son of Helmut and Mathilde Helmreich Schmidt.
Manny, although stubborn, had a heart of gold and was a gentle soul. He will be remembered for his caring and generous heart who would help any person that needed it. Manny was also an animal lover at heart, regardless of what kind of animal it may have been (except chipmunks). Manny was an interior and exterior painter for many years. He was an avid Harley-Davidson rider and enjoyed rebuilding old Harleys. Manny had a creative hobby of making lawn ornaments out of glass and selling them at craft fairs. He was also a Bro Rider MC supporter and loved participating in the “Shop with the Biker” event. Manny often supported different motorcycle runs. His favorite was at Christmas time when he would dress as Santa for the Sid Wood Memorial run.
It was a beautiful day for a beautiful ride, and Heaven opened up for another Harley-Davidson rider.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Edmund Schmidt.
