She was born in Peoria on September 14, 1940, the daughter of Hilbert and Anne Rosenbohm, and grew up in Bartonville. Lynne graduated from Limestone High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Augustana College in Rock Island. In 1963, she married Larre Haack, and after briefly living in the Chicago area, returned to Peoria where they had two daughters, Anne and Amy. In 1981, she married James M. “Mike” Ewan, and moved to Springfield. Lynne was a Speech Language Pathologist in the public schools for more than 30 years and earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Illinois at Springfield.
Throughout her life, Lynne greatly enjoyed the company of many friends, including her first cousins, high school and college friends, former neighbors and colleagues, and friends from her many volunteer endeavors, which included AAUW, Kings Daughters, and her beloved church. She was a long-standing member of several book groups, loved knitting and baking, and was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan. Lynne also had a passion for travel, visiting 49 states and many foreign countries including her ancestral home in Oldenberg, Germany.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Mike Ewan; daughters Anne Haack Sullivan (Bob) and Amy Van Santen (Ken); grandchildren Jakob and Jordyn Van Santen, and Joseph and Caroline Sullivan; and her sister, Jeanne Rosenbohm.
A memorial service will be held November 4th at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield with visitation at 9:30 a.m.
