Lucy Lee Mallory Frazier, 93, of Springfield, formerly of Centralia, Illinois, and Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday January 6, 2013 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born on January 9, 1919 in Clinton, Illinois. She married Roy E. Frazier, Jr. in Waukegan, Illinois on December 18, 1936. Roy preceded her in death in 2004.
Mrs. Frazier is survived by her daughter LeAnn Boehne of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, her son Anton Frazier, Sr. of New Berlin, nine grandchildren: Joy Frazier of Atlanta, Georgia, Joanna Frazier of Chicago, Illinois, Greg (Jenna) Boehne of Waukee, Iowa, Christina Boehne of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Anton (Nichole) Frazier, Jr., of Pontiac, Illinois., Alexander Frazier of New Berlin, Aaron Frazier of Groton, Connecticut, Dawn Lewis of Springfield, and Kelly Johnson of Panama City, Florida and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Roy E. Frazier III and her parents.
Lucy was a partner in the family farm in Tunnel Hill, Illinois until 1969. She worked for J.C. Penney in Centralia and was a teacher’s aid in Wamac, Illinois. In Springfield she retired from the State of Illinois Department of CMS after 19 years of service. Lucy was a wonderful cook who enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, playing bridge, and tending to her plants and flowers. She was a scout leader for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Lucy attended Iowa State University where she became a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Centralia, Illinois. Lucy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Centralia and Springfield and the Village United Methodist Church in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School, working in the nursery, and participating in bible studies. She was a Samaritan at St. John’s Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday January 12, 2012 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
