Loren Bud Dodd, 89, of Loami, passed away peacefully at Memorial Medical Center, March 26, 2017. He was born May 29, 1927 to Isaac and Inez Carson Dodd. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Fern Dodd; infant son, Gregory Eugene Dodd; and sister, Geraldine Ryan. Bud attended Waverly High School; as a junior, he took over the family farm after the death of his father. Bud married Fern Edwards on October 5, 1951. They opened their hearts and their home to many children over the years. Bud was a lifelong member of the Loami Methodist Church; he served as chairman of the board of Trustees for 15 years and was a member of numerous committees. He was president of the Methodist Mens Club. He was a co-founder of the Loami Area Food Pantry with his wife, and did the deliveries to the D-MARR-D Apartments. He was very active in the Loami community, and helped with Holiday Food Basket Program. Bud and his wife were the Grand Marshals of the 4th of July Parade in Loami because of all their volunteer work. He was a 4H Leader, and served as president of the Campbell Cemetery Board for years. He spent many summers going to horse shows and rodeos. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Carla (William) Broderick, Loami, IL;granddaughter, Courtney;great grandchildren, Kyra Mason, all of Springfield;brother, Gene (Loretta) Dodd, Loami;sister, Shirley (Don)Pohold, Auburn;sister-in-Law, Gladys Shipman of Loami;brothers-in-law, Dean Edwards of Rochester, IL andFranklin (Celeste) Edwards of Rantoul, IL;Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His family will greet friends onThursday, March 30, 2017, at the Loami United Methodist Church, 112 Coley Street, Loami,for Visitation 9am -11am and Funeral Service at 11:15am with Pastor Donald Peck officiating.
