She was born in Bitely, MI, July 28, 1928, the daughter of Bert and Melvina Hall. She married James Floyd Brake, Sr. in 1946 and they divorced. She later married Derek Timmins in 1975 and they divorced. Her parents and two sisters, Jeanne Connor and Cammie Large preceded her in death.
Loie was an ambitious, adventurous, strong and independent woman. She was a stay at home mom, tending to the care and needs of her children. As her children became adults, she then worked for the State of Illinois Retirement System for many years. In 1990, she earned her CNA certification and served the community through Complete Care of Springfield. Loie had a love for gardening, especially flowers of all kinds. She loved taking care of her home and was found on one occasion, shoveling heavy snow off her roof, and other time observed extended from the top rung of a ladder to trim a tree branch. She was 70 years old at that time. Loie enjoyed painting, was an accomplished seamstress and loved to dance, play the piano and sing. Her family recalls her faith as the family attended the Methodist church.
Surviving are her children: James (Shirley) Brake Jr., of Chatham, Kathryn Morris of Greeneville, TN, Joan E. Greetham of Stone Mountain, GA, and Stephen (Gina) Brake of Tallula, IL. She has 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
Abiding by her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded by the Bisch Crematory.
Inurnment will be in the Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens, IL at a later date.
