Lloyd was born December 16, 1946 the son of Lloyd A. and Theresa (Proves) Schoby Sr. He married Dorothy Pickett, June 12, 1965 at Southside Christian Church and she survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Heather (husband Steve) Hammann of Springfield, and Michael Anthony “Tony” Schoby of Decatur, IL. He has two grandchildren: Alexis and Hunter Hammann both of Springfield. Also surviving are his sister, Pat Halberg of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. His parents, a sister Linda K Schoby and a brother, Richard L. Schoby all preceded him in death.
Lloyd retired March 26, 2011 from the Viper Coal Mine in Williamsville after many years of service. He was a devoted swim coach for the Special Olympics, and served as assistant scout master for Troop 312, guiding the troop along the Lincoln Trail many times. He was a diehard Chicago Cub fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a great supporter and the biggest fan of their baseball and softball teams.
The Schoby family will greet family and friends from 2-4 pm Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen St. Springfield, IL. Private family graveside services will be held in Farmington Cemetery, west of Springfield. Rev. Mark Gifford will officiate.
