Linda E. Howard

Linda was born December 12, 1938, in Jefferson City, MO, the daughter of Anthony Joseph and Opal V. Walls Lauck. She married John Richard Howard in 1959; he preceded her in death on March 7, 2006.

Linda was employed as an assistant to Governor and Mrs. Edgar at the governor’s mansion. She also owned and operated Fleetwood Restaurant in Springfield and River Ridge in Petersburg with her husband. Linda retired from the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture as a program coordinator for quarter horse racing in 2012. She and her husband were members of Midwest Charity Horse Show, American Morgan Horse Association, and the United States Trotting Association.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Daniel Lauck, and grandson, Brandon Howard.

Linda is survived by her sons, Scott (Patty) Howard of Fairview Heights, Curtis (Kim) Howard of Rochester, and Randy (Jody) Howard of Springfield; 11 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Boardman-Smith Funeral, 800 South Grand Avenue, Springfield, IL.
