Lillie M. Vaughn, 81, of Chatham, passed away early Wednesday morning November 28, 2012 at her residence. She was born on April 5, 1931 in Springfield to Paul H. and Mary E. Rath Sims, she married Robert Vaughn in Springfield on March 31, 1967.
She is survived by her husband Robert of Chatham, three daughters: Mary (Wally) Beck, Vickie Smith and Lillie (Bob) Grobelnik all of Springfield, one son Charles (Nancy) Vaughn of Celina, Texas, two stepsons: Robert A. (Veda) Vaughn of Chatham and Thomas Vaughn of Springfield, three step-daughters: Nancy (Hank) Leverton of Naples, FL., Mary Jo (Patrick) Jackson and Michelle “Shelly” Norris both of Springfield, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two sisters: Judy Dennison of Paxton, IL., and Ethel Watson of Springfield, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Charles Fuller, and her sister Alice Nation.
Mrs. Vaughn worked for the Springfield Clinic in medical records for over ten years and then works as a grocery checker at A&P Grocery for over ten years as well. She was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters #1329, she served on the Board of Prevent Child Abuse Illinois, and she volunteered at the Mary Bryant Home, the Ronald McDonald House, and the American Heart Association. Lillie loved crafts and she was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday December 3, 2012 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road, with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 9:00am-11:00am Monday at Bisch West. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mary Bryant Home for the Blind.
