Lauren was born in Freeport, IL, on June 21, 1937, the son of George and Lucille Lindstrom Madden. He married Betty Campbell on November 20, 1976. They shared 46 wonderful years together.
He earned his MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and his bachelor’s degree from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL. Lauren worked as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for a printing and packaging company until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Hawkeye Club and the Gaboda Social Club. Lauren volunteered as a docent at the Iowa Hawkeye Hall of Fame and the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library. He loved traveling, history, reading, golfing, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Chicago Cubs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Madden, of Freeport, IL.
Lauren is survived by his wife; sons, Stephen (Betsey) Madden of Evanston, IL, and Patrick (Priscilla) Madden of Boulder, CO; daughter, Kari Wolf, MD (Greg Jensen) of Springfield; grandchildren, Christopher Jensen, Cortney Penick, Morgan Hanson, Delaney Rawson, MD, Alexander Madden, Gabriel Madden, Elizabeth Madden, and Peter Madden; eight great-grandchildren, including Kylie Stout; niece, Lynne Yowell; and nephew, Mark Madden.
Public ceremonies have been postponed
Private family burial will be held at Farmington Cemetery.
