Larry L. Gebhardt

Larry L. Gebhardt, 64, of Sherman, passed away at 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at his residence. Larry was born February 27, 1955 in Springfield, the son of Paul A. and Katherine F. (Brickler) Gebhardt. He married the love of his life, Kathryn A. Tapocik, on February 24, 1990 in Springfield. Larry adored Kathy and always did everything he could to make sure she was well taken care of. Larry was a 1973 graduate of Lanphier High School. He was a Class 1 Certified Waste Water Operator and worked as an Operating Engineer for Sangamon County Waste Water Treatment. He retired on March 21, 2015, after 21 years of service. Larry loved to travel and go on cruises, something he believed shouldnt be put off until after retirement. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking them to Walt Disney World. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Gebhardt of Sherman; two step-sons, Sean (Rosalia) Janson of Moncks Corner, SC and Lee (Antoinette) Janson of Bluefield, WV; seven step-grandchildren, Spencer, Jake, Trinity and Sebastian Janson all of Moncks Corner, SC and Nikko Janson, Scott (Miranda) Janson, and Stetson Janson of U.S.M.C.; four siblings, Jeff (Sally) Gebhardt, Thom (Valerie) Gebhardt, Linda (Ralph) McCarty, and Sharon K. Miller, all of Springfield; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also, sister-in-law, Marjorie (Walter) Schwager and brother-in-law; Thomas (Kristin) Tapocik. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. A private family service will be held following the visitation. Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center after ceremonies. Burial will take place at a later date at Calvary Cemetery.
