Kurt was born March 20, 1949, in Chicago, IL to Robert Kabat and Dorothy (Prochaska) Orlowski. He served in the 1st Infantry Division of the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Nancy Kabat, on December 9, 1983, at West Side Christian Church. They spent a lifetime cherishing the love they had. They supported (and spoiled) each other, and they shared their happiness with their family and friends.
Kurt worked as an Illinois State Trooper and retired as a Master Sergeant after 28 years of service. He was also a dedicated businessman. He enjoyed being outdoors, exercising, and playing cards (even though he was known to cheat now and again!). He was also an avid Chicago sports fan, always cheering on the White Sox, Bears, and Blackhawks. Kurt was a proud member of West Side Christian Church and volunteered as a greeter as well as led a grief care group. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was a great listener.
Kurt was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy Kabat; parents, Robert Kabat and Dororthy (Daniel) Orlowski; and cherished dog, Kasey.
Kurt is survived by his best friend/pup, Trooper; sisters, Pamela (Leonard) Reichard of Chicago Ridge, IL and Deb (Dennis) Boersma of Manteno, IL; daughters, Kimberly (Jesse) Bayer and Kara Bohne of Western Springs, IL; sons, Kraig (Stefani) Kabat of Homewood, IL and Kris (Lauren) Kabat of Chicago, IL; step-children, Jeff (Jessi) Call and Christine Call of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Jack and Ellery Bayer, Luke and Lylah Bohne, Kaden Kabat, Lucy Kabat, Quentin Call, and Marnie and Maple Rimelspach; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
