

Kevin L. Danner, Sr., 65, of Springfield, passed away at 8:06 a.m. on Monday, September 07, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family. Kevin was born September 2, 1950 in Springfield, the son of Henry W. Danner, Jr. and Margaret Cadigan Danner. He married Sandra Ashcraft on April 18, 1970 in Springfield. Kevin was a 1968 graduate of Lanphier High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and then earned his bachelor's degree of Arts in Labor Studies from the National Labor College. He was a sheet metal worker for local #218 for 40 years, retiring in 2007. He was also a sheet metal union organizer, a certified OSHA trainer, and later ran his own firearm business. Kevin spent 34 years as the Financial Secretary for the Knights of Columbus #4175 and had been a 4th degree member since 1977. He enjoyed target shooting and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Danner. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Danner of Springfield; son, Kevin (wife, Sherry) Danner, Jr. of Sherman; daughter, Kaylee (husband, Doug) Gholson of Springfield; two grandchildren, Kasandra and Kaden Gholson, both of Springfield; four siblings, Barb Danner of Hillsboro, MO, Larry (wife, Karen) Danner of Riverton, Dave (wife, Debbie) Danner of Springfield, and Norma (husband, Bill) Kinsel of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Per Kevin's wishes, family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:15 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2000 Sangamon Avenue., Springfield. Funeral Mass: 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Chiola, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors. A Celebration of Life will follow at the K of C #4175.
