Kenneth W. Parker, 75, of Springfield, passed away at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. Ken was born March 25, 1939 in Jacksonville, the son of Carl and Mary Tribble Bushnell. He married Joyce Heinemann on September 7, 1957 in Decatur. Ken was a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School. An architect for 40 years, he retired from Steckel-Parker Architects in September of 2003. Ken was a member of the Springfield Noon Lions Club (past President), the Military Historical Society, Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries, past member of the American Institute of Architects, and he donated his architectural services for the Ronald McDonald House. He was well-respected in the community and known for being gentle, humble, sweet, and having unconditional love for his family. He was an avid Cubs fan, loved golfing, coaching baseball, and fishing. He was a member of the Baha'i Springfield Community for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael Parker. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Parker of Springfield; son, Scott (Tracy) Parker of Chatham, two daughters, Sheryl (Cary) Daugherty of Rochester, and Sue Helmerichs of Springfield; six grandchildren, Nicholas (Adinaa) and Zachary Daugherty, Erika (Earl West), and Shelby Helmerichs of the United States Air Force, Danyelle (Joe) Felchner, and Caelan Parker; three great-grandchildren, Cashton, Jackson, and Alainaa Daugherty; two brothers, James (Sharon) of Decatur, and Timothy (Kathy) Parker of Chesapeake, VA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with the Springfield Baha'i Community officiating. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
