Judith E. Brooks

Judith E. Brooks, 81, of Springfield, passed away on November 20, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born on October 11, 1941 in Charleston, Illinois to G. Byron Austin and T. Maxine Gibbs. Judith married James M. Brooks and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Brooks is survived by her children: Susan B. Needham of Pleasant Plains, son J. Jeffrey Brooks of Springfield, one grandson Travis J. (Brea) Powell of Pleasant Plains, three great-grandchildren: Tyson, Eli and Ivy Powell, one sister Sandra J. Stelzer of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one grandson SSG Joshua D. Powell.

Judith graduated from Charleston High School and attended Eastern Illinois University. She was the co-owner of Jim Brooks & Co. Realtors and she retired after thirty years in retail sales from Estee Lauder. Judith enjoyed traveling with her parents and sister, dining out with friends, shopping, attending family holiday gatherings and cooking and baking. One of her greatest joys was spending the Winter months in Orange Beach, Alabama.
