Joyce Enid Tinsley, 77, of Springfield, passed away on January 8, 2019 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born on March 28, 1941 in Alton, Illinois to William and Lelia Nelson Armstead. Joyce married Charles Arthur Tinsley on July 14, 1963 and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2011.
Mrs. Tinsley is survived by two daughters: Renee J. Bell and Christa Tinsley both of Springfield, three grandchildren: Jared E. Bell, Chelsea E. Bell and Sarah C. Rodgers, one sister Janet (Allan) Woodson, one aunt Sadie Algee, sister-in-law Elizabeth (Steve) Alexander and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Joyce graduated from Sangamon State University with a Master’s Degree in Human Development and Counseling. She was a teacher with Springfield District 186 for over twenty years. Joyce enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with the people she loved. Her true passion was teaching and her love of children and their development.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday January 15, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church, 1612 East Capitol Avenue, with burial to follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
