Johnie R. Hewitt

Johnie R. Hewitt, 75, of Springfield, passed away on June 16, 2023. He was born on April 21, 1948 in Springfield to Lloyd Henry Hewitt and Norma Jean Toepfer. John married Linda Witt on August 1, 1970 in Virden, Illinois and she preceded him in death on February 19, 2021.

Mr. Hewitt is survived by his children: Becky (Craig) Tobias of Athens and Brian (Krissy) Hewitt of Auburn and two grandsons: Cody Tobias and Gavin Hewitt. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Kay Nolan and Connie Wardell and one brother Dale Hewitt.

John was a US Army veteran and he worked as a route salesman for IBC for over thirty years. He enjoyed landscaping and home improvement projects and always lended a hand to those in need. Johnie was a hard worker who provided for his family, he enjoyed traveling and entertaining friends and family. John and Linda were able to enjoy three years of retirement in Port Charlotte, Florida.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30am on Thursday June 22, 2023 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road with burial to follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:30am until the time of service Thursday at Bisch West.
