John T. Nance, 72, of Springfield, passed away at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. John was born October 24, 1939 in Athens, the son of William and Sylvia Pierceall Nance. He married Nancy Boelling on May 20, 1978 in Springfield. John served his country in the United States Navy and worked for Fiat Allis for 22 years, and later for the State of Illinois. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, the K of C #3914 Council in Riverton, and VFW Post 5168 in Forsyth, MO. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and doing yard work. John's favorite pastime was playing cards and fishing with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Roy Arthur Nance; brother, Donald E. Nance Sr.; and sister, Sally Ann Marrow. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Springfield; son, John T. (wife, Tammie) Nance, Jr. of North Carolina; two daughters, Wendy K. Armstrong of Tampa, FL and Candy Jo (husband, Stan) Davis of Springfield; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Vale; several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dog, Rusty. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Christ the King Parish, 1930 Barberry, Springfield with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by InterVeterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
