John A. Morris

John A. Morris, Sr., 67, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at St. John's Hospital. John was born July 13, 1948 in Danville, the son of Anthony George and Frances Josephine Omahen Morris. John graduated from Schlarman High School in Danville and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Illinois State University. John taught Computer Data Processing and Accounting at Lincoln Land Community College and was most recently employed with Illinois Healthcare and Family Services. John had an IQ of 127.5. He was a member of the Ghost Hunters Society of Illinois. He loved attending auctions and collecting, and he was very supportive of his grandchildren in their sporting events. John was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George F. Morris, an infant son, and one grandson, Saulo Morris. He is survived by two sons, John A. Morris, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ and James A. (Chrissy) Morris of Springfield; one daughter, Jackie (Jason) Ground of Chatham; four granddaughters; two brothers, Joe T. (Marcie) Morris and Mark P. Morris, both of Champaign; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. The family will host a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at St. Patrick's Church, 1725 S. Grand Ave E., Springfield. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville, IL.
