John T. Hendrick

John T. Hendrick, 76, of Springfield, passed away at 10:43 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at St. John's Hospital. John was born May 13, 1934 in Dorina, MO, the son of Bub and Viola Adams Hendrick. He married Dorothy Edgin on December 9, 1957 in Hickman, KY. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and earned his Associate degree in Applied Sciences from Lincoln Land Community College. He retired from LLCC. John was a member of the Living Church of God. John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul and Lou Hendrick. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of Springfield; son, John M. (Jackie) Hendrick of Springfield; two daughters, Debi (Jon) Aukamp of Macon, IL and DeeDee Abbott of Springfield; thirteen grandchildren, Michael Heldebrandt of Champaign, Brandon (Stacey) Heldebrandt of Gibson City, Eric (Tiara) Heldebrandt of Thomasboro, Michele Latham of Mahomet, Cody (Cindy) Le of St. Louis, Kayla Agee of Macon, Holli South of Nokomis, Amanda (Random) Clavin of Nokomis, Lori Hendrick of Springfield, Ashley Abbott of Springfield, William Cockrell, Phillip Cockrell and Matthew Cockrell, all of Springfield; twelve great-grandchildren, Trent, Nylashae, and Ataeya Heldebrendt, Jacob, Alyssa, Zachary and Bryson Latham, Zachary and Catie South, Charles Clavin, and Alexis and Andrew Cockrell; siblings, Catherine (Art) Runyon of Bloomington, Ann (Richard) Stahr of St. Charles, MO, Jim (Jane) Hendrick of FL and Judy Hendrick of Nokomis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Irv Woelfle officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
