Joanne Theresa Koskey, 79, of Springfield, died at 6:09 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at St. John's Hospital. Joanne was born July 15, 1930 in Divernon, the daughter of John and Rose Donath Tumulty. She married Steve Koskey on September 26, 1953 in Springfield. Joanne retired from the State of Illinois Department of Corrections. She was the matriarch of her family. Her family and friends were the love of her life and she treasured her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Rosemary, Leona, Virginia and Violet; and two brothers, Paul and Edward. She is survived by her husband, Steve Koskey of Springfield; a son, Steve (wife, Jeannie) Koskey of Springfield; two daughters, Lynn Koskey of Riverton and Cindy (husband, Doug) Trew of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Marie (husband, Louis) Bolash; three brothers, Jack (wife, Rose) Tumulty, Jerry (wife, Josephine) Tumulty and Larry (wife, Beverly) Tumulty; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Doug Trew officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
