JoAnn F. Meyer

JoAnn F. Meyer, 73, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday December 13, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on September 17, 1941 in Springfield to Frederic G. and Anna Miller Memken. She married Gerald Meyer Jr., on July 19, 1964 in Farmingdale, IL., and they later divorced.

Mrs. Meyer is survived by two daughters: Kathleen (Paul) Vehmeier of Freeport, IL., and Kristin (Fred) Smith of Springfield, four grandchildren: Jacquie and Nathan Vehmeier and Amelia and Freddy Smith.

JoAnn worked for Concordia Seminary in Springfield from 1960-1965 and then for Com Ed as a training supervisor from 1974-1997. She also served as a volunteer on Sangamac Ambulance for many years. JoAnn was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains where she was a member of the Mary Martha Guild.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday December 18, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains with burial to follow at Farmington Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4:00-7:00pm on Wednesday at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road and also one hour prior to the funeral service Thursday at church.
