He was born on July 6, 1930 in Frankford, MO, the son of the late Harry D. and Florence M. (East) Holman. He married Barbara Moore on February 21, 1954 in Vandalia, MO, and she just preceded him in death on March 31, 2017.
Mr. Holman served 4 years with the U.S. Air Force working as a mechanic stationed in Albuquerque, NM and then in Okinawa. He retired in 1989 after 35 years with the U.S. Postal Service. After that, he worked part-time as a courier for Sikich. He was a member of the Chatham American Legion, the Route 66 Cool Cruisers, and the Central IL Mustang Club.
He is survived by his 3 daughters, Karen (husband Nick) Appelbaum of Springfield, Judy (husband David) Ingram of Pleasant Plains, IL, and Denise (husband Chris) Knoll of Bloomington, IL; 6 grandchildren, David Appelbaum, Laura (husband Joel) Rapaport, Diana (husband Steve) Hanley, Jacob Knoll, Maggie Knoll, and Graham Knoll; 1 great-granddaughter Madison Rapaport; 2 sisters, Carolyn Sanderson of Louisiana, MO, and Sandra (husband Dave) Klene of Topeka, KS; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife Barbara, he was preceded in death by a brother Gloyd Guy Holman, and a sister Joan Rouse.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, where visitation will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 10 am until time of the funeral service at 11 am. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home with Rev. Julia Melgreen officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
