

Jerry White, 80, of Springfield, died at 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. Jerry was born November 21, 1937 in Springfield, the son of George and Margaret Kiely White. He married Mary Ellen Bahl on June 11, 1960 in Chicago. Jerry earned his bachelors degree from Loyola University in 1960. He was a longtime Realtor and was most recently appointed to the Property Tax Appeal Board. Jerry served as Chairman of the Sangamon County Board of Review and worked for the Department of Children and Family Services, where he founded the One Church, One Child Adoption Program and served as Coordinator of Special Events and Public Information Officer. He was also a former director of the United Way in Morgan County. Jerry was a former candidate for State Senate and Sangamon County Recorders Office, President of the Sangamon County Republican Network, and served as committeeman for Gardner 1 Township. He was also a member of the Illinois and National Association of Realtors and Christ the King Parish. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Norma Jean Yoggerst. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen of Springfield; children, Lynn A. Petty of Springfield, Karen (husband, Vince) Manoogian of Kirkwood, MO, and Mark of McLean, VA; five grandchildren, Daniel Petty, Anna and Natalie Manoogian, Max and Isabella White; and two great-grandchildren, James and William Petty. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry, Springfield with Rev.
