Jennifer Ray Wight, 70, of Springfield, passed away on June 25, 2024 at her residence. She was born on March 13, 1954 in Moline, Illinois to Parker Young and Patricia Ann Riley. After Patricia’s passing she was adopted by Helen Marie Mays Young. She married Mark Wight in Springfield on September 19, 2008 and he survives.
Mrs. Wight is also survived by her children: Jared M. Ginter and Brittney R. Calderon both of Chatham, one granddaughter Alejandra R. Calderon, siblings: Lorrie Y. (Dave) Anderson of Beaufort, S.C., Stephen P. (Julie) Young of Rock Hill, S.C., Jean M. Clark of Kingsport, TN., Angie L. (Mike) Helms of Beaufort, S.C., and William H. (Lynn) Young of Camden, S.C., and her best friend Kate Renshaw of Carbondale.
Jennifer loved spending time with her family, especially her 6 year-old granddaughter! Jennifer worked for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office as the Case Management Coordinator for General Law Division for 30 plus years! After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the local horse barn, spending time traveling with her husband, Mark, and following her passion for drawing and pottery. Jennifer looked forward to visiting Litchfield Beach every year for her Crazy Sisters Weekend!
Cremation rites were accorded and the family will host a memorial gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, www.gentivahs.com and condolences may be left at www.bischfuneralhomewest.com.
