Jason B. Nagle passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 27, 2017 after enduring a short battle with cancer. Born on January 15, 1972 in Urbana, IL, Jason was the oldest son of Richard (Dick) and Cynthia (Cindy) Nagle. He attended Springfield Southeast High School and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, majoring in Plant Biology and Zoology.
Jason’s love for nature and the outdoors began when he enrolled in a Scouting program at Sandburg Elementary School and continued to grow while he proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout in Boy Scout of America, Troop 216.
Jason’s passion for the outdoors led him toward a career path in environmental studies, and he spent time working for the Missouri Department of Conservation, the National Park Service in Gatlinburg TN, and the Bureau of Land Management in Southern California. While in Springfield, he was employed by Vern LaGesse and Associates and Greenview Nursery sales department. Jason always found joy in helping others find the beauty of the outdoors in their own way.
In recent years he spent many hours volunteering for the Friends of Sangamon Valley, Adams Wildlife Sanctuary, and Lincoln Memorial Gardens. Jason also enjoyed expressing his artistic talents through both art and music and loved playing blue grass music with friends on his mandolin. Jason was a loyal Cubs Fan and like many enjoyed their 2016 winning season.
Jason is survived by his parents, his younger brother Brian (Kristen Moore) and their three children, Benjamin, Bridget and Molly. Jason’s extended family includes many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Margaret and Richard Gregerson and Jack and Marjorie Nagle of Gibson City, his Uncle John Brooks of Petersburg, IL, and his Aunt Ann Nagle Day of Estes Park, CO.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd, Springfield. Jason was a lifetime member of Laurel United Methodist Church. Memorial services will be held at Laurel United Methodist Church, 631 S. Grand Avenue West, Springfield IL on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017, at 12:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family before the service between 10:00 AM and 11:45 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Friends of Sangamon Valley, Lincoln Memorial Gardens or Laurel United Methodist Church.
