Jane Catherine Kent

She was born in E. St. Louis, IL, February 9, 1921 the daughter of Howard and Nina Bayliss Strider. She married Robert L Kent, in Pacific, MO June 15, 1941 and he preceded her in death, October 18, 2009.

Jane was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Kent Jr., a grandson, Robert Kent III, a brother John Strider and a sister, Marian Haider.

Jane was the co-owner of Kent Family Inc. She worked alongside her husband and family in the grocery and commercial real estate business for many years. They owned and operated IGA’s, and Save-A-Lot Food Stores in several area communities. She was a member of the Sugar Creek United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are her children; Marsha Kent, Craig (wife Stephanie) Kent, Kevin Kent, and Doug (wife Karen) Kent all of Springfield. She has 10 grandchildren; Dana Zilinski, Angela Beneditti, Mercedes Kent, Ashley Weir, Jeff Domanowski, Ann Kent, Andy Kent, Sam Kent, Nick Kent and Katie Kent-Centeno. There are 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Georgia Kent of Chatham, IL.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen, Springfield, IL 62703 where visitation will be from 9:00 am Friday, November 8, 2013 until time of funeral services there at 10:30 am Friday. Rev. Allen Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
